Our mission

We’re a group of UCL students concerned about the climate crisis and the lack of sustainability action in UCL and beyond.

So we founded the Sustainability Council, working with the Students’ Union and the Sustainability Officer, to address the often-overlooked role of finance in climate change.

Our primary initiative focuses on raising awareness about the environmental impact of banks. We aim to give students the knowledge to evaluate their banking choices and their environmental consequences.

Our mission goes beyond awareness. We run campaigns, lead workshops and advocate for sustainability within UCL. We’re participating in the Sustainability Leadership Conference in June 2025 and in Fresher's Week.

Our eventual goal is that as students move away from environmentally harmful banks, those banks will stop funding fossil fuels to avoid losing their future customer base. Also, universities will feel pressure to align their banking practices with the values of their students.
